The East Side Mall is to be realised on the Anschutz site next to the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin-Friedrichshain. This site is in turn embedded in the Media Spree Master Plan, which foresees a completely new district development along the banks of the Spree (Mercedes Benz Arena, offices, hotels, lofts, shopping centre, gastronomy, green spaces). In summer 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sales Germany was the first anchor of the district, occupying new headquarters in Mühlenstraße. In the spring of 2014 the first hotel followed with the opening of the Holiday Inn, together with completion of the building for Zalando AG, a further key user with around 1,400 jobs. In addition to this, work has begun on the "Max und Moritz" residential towers of Wohnkompanie. The "Arena Boulevard" office complex of project developer Strauß & Partner will be completed shortly.

The shopping centre that is planned for the site between Mercedes Benz Arena and Warschauer Brücke satisfies an identified local amenities requirement and offers space for approximately 120 retail units on three levels. The retail property has ideal accessibility via two main entrances – Warschauer Brücke and Mercedes Benz Arena – and is optimally connected via several underground and regional railway lines (Warschauer Straße railway station).

On a total rentable space of approx. 38,700 sqm the new centre is going to be developed with an attractive mix of tenants including retail, services, gastronomy and leisure spaces. The sales area is approx. 24,800 sqm plus 760 car-parking spaces. The opening is scheduled for end of 2018.
